Bosch Rexroth introduced its LC 8X cartridge-valve update in a July 23, 2026 technical article. The company reports lower pressure loss in certain directional functions and describes replaceable screw-in nozzles for pressure functions. These are vendor claims for a particular valve family, not a general hydraulic-system saving.
Engineering significance
In high-flow circuits, even a modest pressure drop can add heat and increase the duty on cooling equipment. A valve upgrade therefore deserves a system-level review: flow direction, duty frequency, pressure differential, switching behavior, and manifold fit must all be checked. Existing pilot covers or cavities should never be assumed compatible from a product-family name alone; verify the approved drawings and part numbers.
What buyers should check
- Measure pressure before and after the existing valve at representative flow.
- Check the proposed cartridge and cover combination against the manifold cavity and control logic.
- Repeat functional and leakage tests after a change, including emergency states.
Application to custom hydraulic projects
The design lesson for presses, steel lines, and lifting circuits is to investigate actual hydraulic losses before purchasing a higher-output power unit. Manufacturer test conditions determine whether any stated improvement applies.
