Metallurgical Cylinder Application Checklist
Hydraulic cylinders in a metallurgical line may be exposed to repeated cycles, scale, heat and impact. The exact combination depends on the station: a rolling adjustment, continuous-casting segment or lifting mechanism should not be treated as the same duty. A useful inquiry starts with the movement and load history for the specific machine.
Design and installation review
State the working force, stroke, speed, duty cycle, pressure peaks and machine alignment. Identify radiant heat, water spray, abrasive scale and maintenance access. Select rod protection, seals, wipers and mounting style for these measured conditions rather than adopting a generic “high temperature” label.
What to include in an inquiry
Include approved mounting drawings and the plant fluid specification. Ask for dimensional inspection, pressure and leakage testing, coating details and service parts. Any temperature or pressure rating must be agreed from the final cylinder configuration.
